Bricklayer's, Bergholt Road (near North Station) - An Adnams House - Great atmosphere, good food.British Grenadier, Military Road (towards Fingringhoe) - An Adnams House - Small, friendly local.
Dragoon, Butt Road (near the Police Station) - an Adnams House - A typical local.
Fat Cat, Butt Road (near the Police Station) - A Free House - Opened in 2007 - previously known as the Royal.
Forester's Arms, Castle Road - a Whitbread House - One of Colchester's best kept secrets.
Hospital Arms, Crouch Street (further up from the King's Head) - An Adnams House - Well worth a visit.
King's Arms, Crouch Street - (near the Police Station) - A Whitbread Hogshead House - A very lively pub with excellent atmosphere.
Odd One Out, Mersea Road (near St.Botolph roundabout) - A Free House - A blast from the past, superb ambiance, no food.
Rose and Crown, East Street (near East Gates) - A Free House - Beer's good, a hotel with a great restaurant.
