The Colchester Festival Association

Our principal aim is to work with individuals, groups and organisations to bring about 'free to the public' events that celebrate Colchester life, the arts, its culture and its heritage.

Our specific aims for 2010 are as follows:

  • To recruit new members of the CFA.
  • To register the CFA as a charitable association.
  • To identify grant making organisations and to apply for any that we may be able to benefit from.
  • To raise funds in order to further our aims.
  • To assist other Colchester area based free event and activity organisers.
  • MAY REVELS - To work with the Colchester Town Watch and other groups and individuals to stage the May Revels in the Upper Castle Park on the morning of Saturday May 1st. In a traditional celebration of May Day and which will include lighting the Armada Beacon, Cake Rolling, Parading the May Queen and her court, Maypole and Morris dancing, Medieval and Elizabethan weapons displays, English longbow archery demonstrations, etc. This will be an informal event, free to anybody who wishes to attend.

 Next Year and Beyond.

To consolidate our achievements and plan new events and to continue with fund raising activities, applying for grant funding for specific projects.
